Back in October 2023, Take-Two Interactive, the company behind 2K and Rockstar, trademarked a new project called ‘Project Ethos.’ This trademark was filed in both the UK and US, with the title presented in capital letters as “PROJECT ETHOS.”
The trademark description includes video games, suggesting it’s likely a new intellectual property (IP). While Rockstar is known to be working on the next Grand Theft Auto game, ‘Project Ethos’ seems to be a separate venture.
Speculation has arisen about ‘Project Ethos’ being related to the long-rumored ‘Project Medieval,’ and recent developments suggest that this rumor might be true. In fact, back in November, a Reddit user commented regarding this project on a Reddit post where a discussion on Rockstar’s new project was going on.
Now, according to sources, Rockstar Games is actively developing two new IPs. One is a revived project named ‘Agent,’ expected to launch in the next console generation. The other involves a medieval fantasy setting, potentially positioning Rockstar to compete with popular titles like Skyrim, Elder Scrolls, and Elden Ring. This medieval fantasy IP is likely to introduce new gameplay elements, focusing on melee weapons and swords, rather than firearms, featuring weapons such as crossbows and war.
