Starfield is About to Get its ‘Biggest Update Yet’

Bethesda Game Studios has announced that Starfield is about to get its most sizeable update since its release in September 2023.

The update is set to hit Steam Beta on January 17, kicking off a testing period. The update will be released globally two weeks later, once beta testers have validated it.

Bethesda claims that over 100 fixes and improvements are coming as part of the update.

There are high expectations that Bethesda Game Studios will reveal something related to Starfield during the Xbox Developer Direct showcase airing on January 18.

The update includes fixes for bugs in quests, improved textures, lighting, and shadows, additional widescreen support, ‘sun disk geometry’, addressing the ‘pet asteroid’ bug, and planet ring shadows.

Despite the update, there isn’t anything ‘new’ being added to the game, which has seen a sharp drop-off in player count since its release.
