Disco Elysium’s Developer Reportedly Cancels Upcoming Game and Plans Staff Reductions

ZA/UM has cancelled its new game, Project X7, a standalone expansion for Disco Elysium that had been in development

The cancellation of the game is set to result in layoffs, with about 24 employees, nearly 25% of the company’s workforce, potentially being let go.

Project X7 Status: According to ZA/UM president Ed Tomaszewski, Project X7 was “one to two years away from completion” before its cancellation.

In a message obtained by GLHF, ZA/UM CEO Ilmar Kompus confirmed the cancellation of Project X7 and acknowledged that it would likely lead to redundancies within the studio.

Following the cancellation of Project X7, the company plans to reshape its team to support its two remaining games, codenamed C4 and M0.

Awaiting Official Comment: GLAR has reached out to ZA/UM for comment on the report and is awaiting a response.
