Santa Monica Studio celebrates the one-year anniversary of God of War: Ragnarok by releasing a free DLC called Valhalla. This new roguelite mode is set after the events of Ragnarok, where Kratos and Mimir embark on a deeply personal journey through Valhalla
Roguelite Mechanics: Players start over after dying, gaining power for the next run. Gameplay varies with different perks, runic attacks, glyphs, and monsters.
Rewards for playing the new Valhalla roguelite mode include different armors, which are cosmetic only. Players can unlock different looks and mix and match their favorites to get Kratos looking fighting fit for all their Photo Mode needs.
Valhalla features five difficulty settings that increase the challenge and the amount of rewards earned from runs. Players can swap them freely to find the one that suits them the most.
The new Valhalla DLC serves as an epilogue for Kratos and Mimir after the departure of Atreus in Ragnarok. It’s described as a ‘deeply personal and reflective journey’, possibly indicating some flashbacks similar to the ones in the Norse-saga games.
The God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC is set to release at 9 AM Pacific on December 12th. Santa Monica Studio has released Valhalla to the community for free as a celebration for the success of Ragnarok.
