Remedy Entertainment, known for its unique game design, continues to defy norms with its creations like Control and the upcoming Alan Wake 2. Control, released in 2019, was particularly noteworthy for its eerie atmosphere, unsettling world design, and gripping plot. So when Control 2 was confirmed in 2021, fans were thrilled.

Here’s what we know about Control 2 so far.

Control 2 Release Date

In 2022, Remedy announced that they were working on Control 2. However, as of now, a release date for the sequel has not been announced.

Last year October 2023, Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said that the upcoming Control game is still in the “proof-of-concept” stage. Right now, Remedy is busy with four projects after finishing Alan Wake 2. They’re working on a remake of Max Payne 1 and 2, a new live-service game, a multiplayer version of Control, and Control 2. 

Also, the Control franchise’s game director, Mikael Kasurinen, talked about how exciting the game is looking at this very early stage, but he also says that “it’ll take a while” to produce and that it’s still “early days” on the project. That should alert you to the fact that Control 2 can take years to come.

Moreover, since Remedy just released a story-focused game (Alan Wake 2), they’ll likely focus on multiplayer games next, followed by the Max Payne remake. Control 2 might take a while, maybe until 2027, because Remedy has a lot on its plate.

Control 2 Platforms

Control 2 is still a long way off, and fans are worried about whether it will be available on the current consoles. 

Remedy Entertainment hasn’t said anything about this yet. However, since the PS5 and Xbox Series consoles are very powerful and are likely to be supported until at least 2030, it’s safe to assume that Control 2 will be released on them, as well as on PC. 

There’s also speculation about a new version of the Nintendo Switch, called the Nintendo Switch 2. If this new handheld console becomes popular, the next Control game might also be available on it.

Control 2 Gameplay

In Control 2, the gameplay will likely be similar to the first game. You start with basic shooting, but then gain cool powers like moving objects with your mind and flying around. It’s a fun mix of shooting and using special abilities.

It flows incredibly well and combines shooting with powers based on physics in a creative way. It is likely that the upcoming Control game will expand upon this to offer a wider range of action-packed gameplay possibilities.

As for the modes in the next Control title, it most likely won’t feature any kind of cooperative or multiplayer option. However, Remedy is creating Condor, a multiplayer spin-off of Control.

Once after the release, we can expect Control 2 to have even more exciting gameplay options.

Control 2 Storyline

In Control 2, the main story is about the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC) being attacked by something called the “Hiss.” Jesse is the main character, and she’s trying to learn more about the FBC, and her special powers, and find her missing brother. 

One theory is that Jesse will try to save her management team, regain control of the FBC, and remove the Board from the Oldest house. 

In the seventh mission of Control, called “The Face of the Enemy,” Jesse Faden goes to the Containment Sector of a place called the Oldest House. Her task is to find something called the Slide Projector. But when she does, it opens a doorway that lets the bad guys, called the Hiss, come into the building from another dimension.

Other than that, fans are requesting that Alan make an appearance in Control 2, however, it hasn’t happened yet. But, Jesse Faden, the main character of Control, does make a brief appearance in the Ocean View Motel tale chapter of Alan Wake 2, so a crossover seems unavoidable. Also, it is possible because Remedy has already said that both of its properties are situated in the Remedy Connected Universe.

Moreover, Jesse may have a larger role in the Alan Wake 2 DLC, as Remedy has plans for it as well, but we will have to wait patiently till then.
