Someone Got Nintendo Switch 2 Early, But Videos Have Been Taken Down

Summary

  • Videos showing early unboxing of Nintendo Switch 2 have surfaced but are swiftly being taken down.
  • Without the June 5 day-one patch, the Switch 2 cannot function or play games.
  • Multiple gamers in different countries have claimed to receive the console ahead of launch.

Early Nintendo Switch 2 Unboxing Videos Appear Online

Despite Nintendo’s best efforts, some fans have gotten their hands on the Nintendo Switch 2 early. One YouTube video, now taken down due to a copyright strike, showed what looked like a genuine Switch 2 box being opened, revealing the console inside. However, the video didn’t show much beyond the hardware itself, wrapped in plastic.

Anti-piracy takedowns suggest the footage was legitimate, but the system remains unusable until the official day-one patch arrives on June 5.

Popular leaker Wario64 also noted that another person shared images of the console but encountered a system message when trying to play older Switch games: “Please connect to the internet and update your system.” This means even if you get one early, you can’t really do anything with it yet.

Why You’ll Have to Wait

Reports also surfaced from a gamer in northern California and another in Russia who shared videos and social posts about receiving the Switch 2 early. But both confirmed that the system is locked behind a required day-one update, making it impossible to access games or full system functions before June 5.

While some fans hoped for sneak peeks or detailed tours, Nintendo’s careful launch strategy is keeping everything under wraps until the official date.

Launch Day Approaches

The Nintendo Switch 2 officially launches worldwide on June 5, with demand expected to be sky-high. Pre-orders sold out fast, but Nintendo has assured fans that they’ll have enough stock to meet demand through the holiday season.

Until then, fans will have to wait for more official news and avoid falling for fakes or unauthorized early leaks.
