Summer Game Fest 2025 just set a new record. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the event saw a whopping 89% spike in viewership from last year. Over 50 million people tuned in across YouTube, Twitch, and X, with more than 3 million watching at the same time during its peak.
This makes it the biggest SGF since it began in 2020.
According to StreamCharts, YouTube views were up 43% compared to last year, while Twitch viewership climbed 38%. More than 1,300 community streamers also co-hosted the show live.
The average audience and total watch time saw major growth, proving the event’s rising popularity worldwide.
What Made This Year’s Show So Special?
SGF 2025 delivered a packed lineup of new game reveals and trailers.
Fans were especially excited for Resident Evil Requiem, which teased a brand-new cast and confirmed a February 27, 2026, release. Jurassic World Evolution 3 showcased its enhanced park-building mechanics, coming out on October 21, 2025. Another surprise hit was Chronicles: Medieval, featuring a trailer narrated by actor Tom Hardy and mixing strategy with third-person action.
Well, with the record-breaking numbers, Summer Game Fest 2025 is now the second biggest gaming event of the year, just behind Nintendo’s Switch 2 showcase. It’s even ahead of Xbox’s and PlayStation’s June events.
