50 Million PS5 Consoles Sold: A Milestone for Sony Interactive Entertainment

Sony Interactive Entertainment has sold 50 million PlayStation 5 consoles to consumers since its launch in 2020. This marks a significant milestone for the tech and gaming giant.

The news comes more than three years after the console’s debut and just weeks after the release of the PlayStation 5’s ‘Slim’ variant.

PlayStation has had a robust year, with the release of top-tier titles and substantial growth in the PlayStation Plus service. The service was recently updated on PS5 to allow cloud-based game streaming.

Jim Ryan, the current CEO and President of SIE, who will be stepping down soon, expressed his gratitude to the global PlayStation community for their unwavering support and passion.

A post on the Sony Interactive Entertainment blog emphasized that the PlayStation 5 is only getting better with time, thanks to innovations in the console’s peripherals and the ongoing efforts to develop ‘highly acclaimed hits’.

With an extensive library of 2,500 PS5 games readily available, ‘now is the perfect time to join the PS5 family.’
