Niantic plans to add another fan-favorite Pokemon, Annihilape, to Pokemon Go. This information was uncovered through a datamine that found assets related to it.
The Pokemon games have long been susceptible to leaks. In the past, event Pokemon were spawned within minutes of a game’s launch, revealing secrets months ahead of their official reveal.
Pokemon Go has an even harder time avoiding leaks, as Niantic tends to add data related to upcoming events and Pokemon before they’re officially implemented. However, not everything added to the game is implemented immediately.
Annihilape, a Fighting/Ghost-type Pokemon that evolves from Primeape, is expected to be added to Pokemon Go. It quickly rose through the competitive ranks in the mainline Pokemon games due to its sheer power, amazing typing, strong moves, and amazing Ability options.
The battle system in Pokemon Go is stripped down compared to the mainline Pokemon games. Therefore, while Annihilape is expected to be a force to be reckoned with, it won’t have quite the same impact, especially as it doesn’t have access to any Tera-type bonus.
It’s unclear when Niantic will officially add Annihilape to Pokemon Go. The company missed the chance to add it during Halloween, so it’s most likely to be the subject of an upcoming Raid event. Fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to unleash their undead monkey monster on their foes.
