According to a Bloomberg report, the Nintendo Switch 2 console, featuring an 8-inch LCD screen, is set to launch sometime this year.
Omdia analyst Hiroshi Hayase, who specializes in display research, suggests that the new Nintendo device could double the shipments of amusement displays in 2024.
The potential 8-inch screen size for the Nintendo Switch 2 has divided fans. While it would provide ample visual information, concerns about its portability have been raised.
For comparison, Valve’s new Steam Deck OLED model, released in November 2023, features a 7.4" diagonal display.
Many fans believed the Nintendo Switch 2 would feature an OLED screen. However, some prefer LCD visuals, and an LCD screen could potentially lower the price tag.
Rumors suggest a possible release of the Nintendo Switch 2 console in September. Fans expect an update during the next Nintendo Direct, or between February and March, allowing enough time to market the console for a launch in the second half of 2024.
