The Elder Scrolls: The Unseen  Spin-off That Could Have Been

Ex-Obsidian Chief Creative Officer, Chris Avellone, recently revealed that The Elder Scrolls could have had its own version of Fallout: New Vegas.

This information was shared by Chris Avellone himself on Twitter. He left Obsidian back in 2015.

Avellone stressed that he pitched various concepts to Bethesda Game Studios for The Elder Scrolls, particularly spin-off titles that would fill the gap between games, much like New Vegas did for Fallout.

Avellone envisioned working similarly to Treyarch and Activision’s Call of Duty games, which had their own storylines and settings but ultimately populated the same universe.

His plan would have seen Bethesda Game Studios release a core game, and the next release would be a spin-off Elder Scrolls title in the same world or a divergent timeline/era.

Given that the last major Elder Scrolls title was Skyrim, released in 2011, and the next TES game is not expected for a while, a spin-off title could have been a great way to engage fans during this gap.
