The Last of Us is one of the biggest franchises in gaming and has been one of the most important IPs at Naughty Dog and PlayStation. The first game was a tremendous success and even spawned an award-winning television series on HBO.
There has been some ambiguity over whether a third game would be released and when that might happen, especially since Naughty Dog appears to be juggling other projects including a new IP.
A new documentary was released about the making of The Last of Us Part II, which ends with series creator Neil Druckmann talking about the future of the series.
Druckmann noted that he had previously been quoted as having an outline for The Last of Us Part 3, but clarified that he was imagining some kind of spin-off thing with Tommy that was its own standalone story.
Druckmann revealed that while he still doesn’t have the entire story figured out, he does have an exciting concept for a third game and believes there is one more story to tell in the world of The Last of Us.
Druckmann expressed his belief that there’s probably one more chapter to this story, indicating that The Last of Us Part 3 is finally happening.
