Cancelled D&D Project Dante Gameplay Footage and Concept Art Leaked

Summary

  • Project Dante, a cancelled open-world D&D RPG by Hidden Path, has leaked gameplay footage and concept art.
  • The game featured companions Kavir and Ri Om and showed advanced combat, puzzles, and storytelling elements.
  • The cancellation led to layoffs and halted a highly anticipated RPG project after roughly three years of development.

Project Dante’s Cancellation and Development Details

Project Dante was an ambitious open-world Dungeons & Dragons RPG announced in early 2021 and developed by Hidden Path Entertainment. Unfortunately, the game was officially cancelled due to funding issues, which also resulted in 44 layoffs at the studio.

Despite no official public reveals before cancellation, recently leaked materials from a former Hidden Path employee’s portfolio have surfaced. These include gameplay clips showing third-person combat, puzzle-solving, and interactions with companions named Kavir and Ri Om.

Concept art uncovered reveals a rich fantasy world filled with dragons, mythical creatures, diverse environments like caves, and seven key companion characters. The visuals hint at a detailed story-driven RPG that blends exploration with party-based gameplay.

What This Means for D&D RPG Fans

While Project Dante will not come to fruition, the leaked footage and art demonstrate how far along the game had progressed before cancellation. The project’s shutdown leaves a gap in the D&D video game landscape, especially following the success of titles like Baldur’s Gate 3.

Fans still have hope with other D&D titles in development, such as Project Baxter by Starbreeze and another action RPG by Gameloft Montreal. These upcoming games promise to carry the torch for Dungeons & Dragons RPGs in the years ahead.
