In the video games industry, the idea is that great games always have big names behind them. Well, that notion might just be going for a ride with the entry of Rebel Wolves and its pilot game Dawnbreaker: Origins on the scene.

Formed recently in 2022, video game developers Rebel Wolves is a group of big names in the industry that worked in the huge CD Projekt Red Studio. You know it means business when you have veterans of games like Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 banding together. Soon after the formation, Rebel Wolves had a AAA dark fantasy game lined up using Unreal Engine 5. Now, some new tidbits have come to our table. Stick till the end to find out all we know about it.

Dawnbreaker: Origins – Rebel Wolves pilot title

Rebel Wolves are currently working on a dark fantasy RPG and its name is Dawnbreaker: Origins, to be set in a huge world, or so reveals the tweet by the self-proclaimed “video game researcher” Kuraksis. This is to be a ‘AAA IP, story-driven saga for PCs and next-gen consoles,’ that is to be released in 2025, potentially.

You might ask, how did Kuraksis find out about this? It turns out, that some domain registrations and published trademarks have been discovered for the title “Dawnbreaker: Origins,” like dawnwalkergame.com and dawnwalkeroriginsthegame.com, registered in October and November 2023 respectively. The tradements were whipped up as early as 2021. By next-gen consoles, we mean PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

As we mentioned in the beginning, this game is being developed using state-of-the-art software, Unreal Engine 5. Kuraksis also discovered a job board by Rebel Wolves for a Gameplay Designer. In the description for this position, you can see that the designer they are looking for needs to have a particular skill set to design an open-world title. We can hazard a guess as to the scale of the project from this.

Before we let our imagination carry us away, let us turn to an article published in 2022 that spoke of Dawnbreaker: Origins. Specifically, it said that this AAA game will not be as ‘gigantic as The Witcher.’ The compensation will be in the number of quests.

Rebel Wolves might be new to the scene, but it seems that that doesn’t deter their spirits at all. The visuals of the game reveal that its gameplay and graphics will be second to none.
