What is the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Release Date and Platform?

Tomorrow will see the announcement of the game’s release date, according to Dragon’s Dogma 2 director Hideaki Itsuno. In the announcement made on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account, the developer states that the release date will be disclosed “formally”. And with the PEGI rating board marking the supposed release date as March 22, 2023, the word “formally” most likely refers to a possible leak.

Capcom had a big announcement about a new game, but it got a bit spoiled because some information leaked. PEGI, which rates video games in Europe, accidentally posted details about Dragon’s Dogma 2. 

According to the leak, the game might be coming out on March 22nd for Xbox Series XS, PlayStation 5, and PC. Some people think this date is real because it’s not like the usual placeholder dates, and the listing was deleted after people noticed it.

To begin with, it’s a soft reboot, set in a different universe but is a prequel to the 2012 game. You play an Arisen cursed by a dragon, wearing a mask that can’t be removed. When it is, the world changes, and you become a target for powerful beasts.

The game is more challenging with modular combat. There are four starting classes and over a dozen options with subclasses. Players start as Explorers in a tutorial, getting cursed but stopping a dragon with a magical bell. Character customization is extensive, including bone structure and muscle details.

The world isn’t fully open-world but a sandbox divided into four big regions, twice the size of the original game. All monsters from the past entry and Dragon’s Dogma Online are expected to be in the game.
