New Notification Points to Upcoming Xbox Game Pass Price Increase

One Reddit user found a new notification type hidden in the site’s code called “SubscriptionPriceIncrease,” sparking speculation that another rise in subscription costs is on the way.

This comes less than a year after the last price increase in July 2024, which already bumped rates up by 25%. Fans are now frustrated by the possibility of yet another jump in pricing.

Many players are sharing memes and complaints, pointing out how Xbox is “raising prices before the next Call of Duty” and sarcastically noting how the Activision deal is “paying dividends.”

Games May Help Justify the Price Bump

Microsoft has launched several high-profile games recently, including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Avowed, and Doom: The Dark Ages. More are on the way too, like The Outer Worlds 2 and Ninja Gaiden 4. But players are still concerned that even strong releases might not be enough to justify another fee increase.

There’s no official word from Microsoft about how much the price might go up or when it will happen, but the backend notification seems to indicate it’s happening sooner than expected.
